When we got into this work, the therapy field itself was sort of in a state of flux with conflicts between more traditional forms of treatment and new reforms of treatment. And so it didn't seem to me like that was going to be a surefire way of helping people to develop the metacognitive abilities to watch the contents of their minds. Yet mindfulness meditation is sort of in part exactly about learning how to do that,. but not just saving it for negative thinking or judgmental ways of relating to yourself. It's about doing it for every possible moment.
