Around 900, we have a widespread phenomenon where many of the cities were abandoned. We call this the Maya collapse and it's no doubt a very simplistic kind of one-off description for a very complex phenomenon. My own take on it is that there was a really good evidence of rapid population growth. That must have put a strain on the existing resources on the existing infrastructure they had. But I think it may have been something that, you know, was part of a mix of different factors.
