Is There a Rival Source of Legitimacy?

Shakespeare's big source here was thomas more's history of richard the third. Both hate tyranny and e love libertyad they're both interested in the character of leading figures. Sometimes tyranny arrives amidst a contention about what is the source of legitimacy, wat what makes you a rightful king? I don't think that's what's going on in these plays.
