The Mad Dog and the US Attorney

Bob Merkel got the name the nickname mad dog completely independent of the Carlos later case that was a name he earned as the US Attorney for the Middle District of Florida and probably even before that. But the way he handled this case was so dogged and so tunnel vision that he was in many ways literally impossible to deal with. He had a co council, a lawyer, another lawyer from the Middle District Tampa office, who was in Jacksonville case and I think also had a residence in Jacksonville his name was Hans Mueller,. And he was of German descent, as was later which became a running theme throughout the case between Carlos and Hans Mueller.
