The Secret Mission in 2001 a Space Odyssey
The real mission is for them to land on the moon. But in the movie it was Jupiter. They didn't even go to a moon. It was just like we got to Jupiter and suddenly crazy lights went off. In later books they change it to Jupiter I'm pretty sure. Stanley Kubrick didn't like the prop department Saturn. So it really serves no real reason it had to be Saturn.
