Nebuchadnezzar's Purpose in the Temple of the Jews
Nebuchadnezzar was trying to assimilate the people he conquered into Babylonian society so that they would become like him. He brought back Daniel and dozens of other of Hebrew children, hoping to indoctrinate them in the ways and worldview of the Chaldeans. If you want to change a culture, you get a hold of the youngest generation. And it's true of any civilization. It takes three generations.
