In the nineties, dan golden said, we've got to take risks. We have to be willing to cancel programmes and run over budget. The infamous two mars failures of 19 99 produced an extremely hostile criticism in congress. Now you're looking at lucy and psyche, with their operations plan, they're looking at 809 hundred million dollars. And so i guess those are still cheaper than other planetary missions. But yet, i thinkhat the appetite for risks is functionally no longer there. These are just targeted science missions, and no longer share of that kind of risk.
