The Hippocrates and Dreams

Dreams continue through right through antiquity to be discussed and understood as visitations of external forces. This is the idea in book 4 of the Hippocratic writing on regimen, from sometime in the later 5th century BCE. If you dream of something kata fusin, according to nature, this is generally a good sign. The earliest surviving manual for Mantic Interpretation of Dreams survives. It dates to somewhere between the mid-second century and the early third century CE.
