The Public Finances Look Like They're on an Unsustainable Path
Institute for Fiscal Studies published its own analysis of the government's figures. The key conclusions, and they're not terribly surprising, is that you've got these big tax cuts,. Big extra spending coming on debt interest, on pensions and welfare. That results in a big budget deficit each year going forward. So that's another way of saying that the public finances look like they're on what we would call an unsustainable path.
