The Differences Between Somatostatin and Turlopressin

Somatostatin works by causing vasoconstriction in the mesenteric vasculature which decreases portal flow. Turlopressin is a vasopressin analog that does that more directly and boosts your blood pressure so you get kind of an increased blood pressure. That's basically how they both work by decreasing portal inflow and decreasing portal pressure as a result.
