The incestuousness of it is kind of sinister as well. Saverian previously talked about how justice is really frustrating because it has to move so slow when he was talking about these trials just a page ago. Now he sees that he knows and has a significant emotional relationship both to the criminals involved in this particular situation and the crime itself. Despite the fact that he is a professional, gilded torturer, he does not perceive any conflict of interest whatsoever in still carrying out the execution.
