Is the Samaritan Woman in John 4 a Misread?

When we really look seriously at the stories about women in the Bible, we can see that they're functioning in ways that might surprise us. They don't always fit our stereotypes about women staying in the home and being wise wives and good mothers. We see women doing actually quite shocking things in biblical narratives and being praised for it. These are contributions they're making to the story of God's people in the world.
