Renouncing Violence

Every aesthetic tradition i've studied involves some form of renunciation. When you get a new car, you're renouncing the old one,. If so, renunciation happens all the time for the spiritual path. It's not an active ciation, as a spiritual person does it, but it is a renunciation. Other renunciations include giving up something that was given to me by a teacher and did i accept now?
