The Evolution of Carbohydrates

The best way to remove lipids is to actually use them. And the best way to do that is exercise because we can increase our energetic demands so much. The muscle also has what I think is like a feed forward system, whereas as you take in a little bit of lipids, it pushes more transporters to the membrane. So you take up more lipids and have enough energy there to spare a carbohydrate. It's just saying, don't put the sugar into the muscle, put it into the liver because I have enough energy for right now.
