The Inner Life of a Jew
The author is extremely protective of her own personal inner world. For instance, if one was to mention murder too in her presence, she might lay awake at night at the thought of it because it's just too much. This interior life is an underlying factor in all stein's writing. And yet, we never really get a true glimpse into stein's interior life herself.
