Is There a Path to Making Games More Financially Viable?

The zenobia award goes to the best games on themes that are largely unknown. With more obscure themes, such as from these guests, it is a serious uphill climb to sell enough units to make the project financially vioable. But i know some folks that have even set up game consultancy companies that make games specifically to do these kinds of things. And i think it's a way of making very specific things that don't necessarily have a a scaled audience, but that have funding behind them. Because therre'sa people that are invested in seeing these games made for particular audiences.
