Introduction
The Hippocratic Oath is the most famous promise of a modern medical practitioner. It was created in 5th century BC as part of an attempt to codify medicine and separate out good practice from bad. The oath wasn't devised or sworn by Hippocrates himself, it's thought that he was born on the island of Kos in around 460 BC but his later life is inseparable from myth.
