Introduction
Nigel Lawson died in March, aged 91. His economic reforms were credited with making the Thatcher Revolution irreversible. But obituaries only likely touched on what they called his climate skepticism. He co-founded an outfit which churns out papers attacking or misrepresenting climate science. It even acts as a channel through which American ideological groups are trying to interfere in British democracy. The Global Warming Policy Foundation and its lobbying arm Net Zero Watch are at the centre of a well-funded network of climate deniers. And now they have friends in Parliament, in the shape of a conservative backbench body called the Net Zero scrutiny group.
