The Importance of Information

In real life the darkening is caused by the sun passing the horizon and reducing the amount of light in the environment. So if we could write a computer program that has all those specifications, it's easy to imagine writing a program that conserves those attributes even though there's no sun there in the program. And yet the explanation of why if the same gene evolved in the program, the gene wouldn't be expressed in terms of base pairs. There would be no DNA molecule, there would be no sun, and yet there would still be the same adapted information that would be adapted in response to the same selection pressures.
