The Limitations of Artificial Intelligence

A major limitation of artificial intelligence can be summarized with a single word algorithms. An algorithm is nothing more than a recipe or a procedure to do something. If I give you directions to come to my house that's going to be an algorithm because I'm going to say go down I-35 turn off route six, go so many miles, turn left, turn right, etc. Well it turns out computers can only perform algorithms. This non-algorithmic aspect translates to human abilities such as creativity and understanding.
