In 2003 an article got published that one of the authors was Harvey Lamont, a really brilliant guy and they took specimens from 50 surgeries and put them under the microscope. There weren't any histological markers of inflammation in any of them. And so that blew the whole paradigm right there that this is an inflammatory condition and what did we do for it? We gave people NSAIDs and we injected them with steroids. The steroid injections were really no better than just a regular lidocaine injection at one year.
