Chloroform used to be used as an anaesthetic, you know, for surgery. And it kills by respiratory depression, just like opiates right? Overdose on an opiate, basically your body no longer it just, it can't breathe any more. Well with the chloroform, it puts your body into a state where it is no longer breathing, and that's how you die. You would have to hold that rag over this person's mouth for an extended period of time before they even lose consciousness.
