David Perry: How can we think about this in terms of texting, which is a primary medium for ghosting? He says from that person's perspective, I clearly was present because they had every reason to believe that I was reading their messages live. So technology enables ghosting behavior and problematizes the distinction between what is present and what is absent. Perkins: This play between presence and absence that we find in ghosting might actually be indicative of the way that we relate to each other even when we're not ghosted.
