The Limits of Semiotics and Semiology
Suri: It's not that there is no freedom in saying anything, but you don't have some kind of absolute freedom. You're constrained by your linguistic context. And even if you want to go outside of the linguistic context and use words to mean things they don't mean, it's not going to work because then nobody's going to understand you. So this then out of this comes the development of a discipline known as semiotics or semiology.
