The Importance of Passion
I was never in the studio lists. Every time I succeeded on something, they saw it as a fluke. There was a predisposition to an understanding in their heads that because I was Mexican and I had an accent, I did not belong in their circle. The best time in my career is at 56. Women in their 50s are not disposable. We have a lot of things that we can contribute with. Because of our experience, our voice is important. It's necessary. So I'm excited to be a middle-aged woman and that it's the best time of my life.
