James deane bought the car in 19 55 for seven thousand dollars. The number one 30 was painted on the hood and doors, as well as the words little bastard on the engine cowl in the back. It turned out it was not barris, but a pin striping expert and another customiser whose shop was next door to barris named dean jeffreys. Deane's friend Bill hickman taught him how to drive like a race car driver,. He was also a stunt driver and went on to appear in both Seven Up and convoy.
