The firm started out with $40,000 in the bank but quickly acquired backing of major Silicon Valley venture capital firms like Sequoia Capital. Nvidia's idea was that they would focus on graphics chips, which have particularly demanding, calculative demands. They broke through when they got the contracts to put the chips both in the PlayStation Two and the Xbox.
