What's Happening Outside the Cities in Rural Areas?
In over 90 cities in Iran, we don't see massive crowds of hundreds of thousands marching on streets. But whenever people have had the chance to gather, we have seen large crowds forming. It is widespread, and people from different walks of life are participating in them. Do we have any idea what's happening outside the cities in smaller towns and villages? Islamic Republic has imposed a partial internet shutdown in Iran. This mainly targets mobile services, and in rural areas, people mainly rely on mobile services for going online. So this means that in villages and in small towns, most people don't have access to any main communication tools which would enable journalists to have an accurate image of what is happening there
