Chris Vitoray and Melissa Merritt's Custody Battle

Chris Vitoray was charged with two counts of first degree murder. Melissa Merritt faced the same charges despite his claims that she wasn't involved. The ugly custody battle between Melissa and Caleb Harrison formed the basis of the prosecution's case. They told the court that Melissa and Chris thought they stood to inherit millions from the Harrison estate. Both were handed life sentences with a non-parole period of 25 years. He recanted his confession at trial, claiming it was coerced.
