Dr. Crabtree: The opposite of Crabtree's would be to throw out a viable, diagnostic hypothesis because of an outlier or piece of data that seemed unrelated with the rest. She and Dr. Zyrowski also avoided another pitfall by keeping this hypothesis active when they walked into the patient's room. "I think both of our discussants showed us that outcomes, razor and hiccum symptoms are powerful, diagnostic tools, if used properly," she says.
