The Stoic ideal is one of cosmopolitanism, in the original sense of being a citizen of the universe. The goal is not simply knowledge of truth via reason, but a process of becoming a responsible, emotionally mature adult human being. It's a kind of scientifically informed therapeutic process, rather than pure psychological science.
