The Hero of the Story So Far, Fred Koch
Koch Industries hired a company called Winkler Koch to help build an oil refinery in Hamburg, Germany. The job occurred in the mid 1930s and was part of their work for Joseph Stalin's Soviet Union. In 1940 they were bought out by Exxon-Mobil who went on to become one of the biggest U.S. oil companies.
