The Importance of Being Around a Community
I think there is this intimate link between the self and how we form friendships. Our friends as they advertise different ways of being in the world to us show us who we could be, right? Show us all of the options that are available to us for how we could be in this world. And I think when we're just around one person, we shrink. Being around a community helps us develop a more dimensional, a richer sense of our own identities and our own selves.
