What Does Saint Thomas Think That Prayer Contributes?
Prayer is an important way for us to sanctify the work that we do, whether it's intellectual life or anything else. By stirring up love and devotion in us during prayer, the prayer enters virtually into what we do next. We find the answer in article three of his treatment of the contemplative life. I'm calling it the money quote. And i don't know why this passage is not better known in thomistic circles.
