The Okavango Delta Depends on the Annual Flood
In Angola, where most of the Delta's water comes from, the population is set to triple in the next 80 years. With many living in poverty, they desperately need development and that needs water. There is no single year that is the same as the previous year in terms of what the water does. Mike Murray Hudson: We need the system to carry on having one year that is not the same as any other. Large scale engineering projects upriver in Angola would have a drastic impact on that variability.
