The Role of Genetics in the Evolution of Gene Expression
There's a growing awareness that this kind of hyper specialization in biological research is necessary, but it requires there to be some kind of comprehensive view. In the last 20 years or so, the genetics research has changed into a more holistic understanding because we're realizing that gene expression is what's really matters. Another place where this is happening in the medical field is in gastrointestinal studies,. Where they were actually realizing that bacteria and even fungi are really important to the proper functioning of our gastrointestinal system.
