The Impossible State
The medieval state was very small that the medieval kings didn't really interfere much in well in the Islamic well they didn't even legislate which kind of blows our mind when we think that's all politicians do in parliament what else are they good for passing laws. The state doesn't legislate God legislates its interpreted on very local level kind of subsidiarity type idea by local communities how you actually operationalize that in the context of a necessarily centralized modern nation state it's unlikely.
