The State Attorney's Office's Judgment of Ayla's Case
In 2014, Trista Petro wrote a letter to the morning sentinel newspaper. This was requesting that the district attorney should bring child endangerment charges against Justin. The case had already been transferred early in the investigation to the state attorney general's office. So per main law, the attorney general has exclusive jurisdiction over homicides and other major cases. And since Ayla's case was considered a major case, that's where the jurisdiction would lie.
