For me, I never think about it from the beginning. It's usually when a bottleneck happens, then yeah, let's take a look and see what we can do here. For me, coming from languages that have been much slower than Go, I almost never profile anything unless I find a specific problem. If your performance is good, stop, don't optimize it. Only optimize when there's a problem.
