The Social Egalitarian Movements of Humanity

It just turns out to be much harder to pull off a really egalitarian social contract under complex, you know, social orders than in a hunter-gatherer system. The idea being that if you are fighting just with your fists or with something like a rock in your fist, there's always one person that has to take the first risk of approaching the bully. If you are able to throw rocks, for example, then it's much easier to become a band of equals against this bully. Brains win in a high tech army. You don't need brawn anymore.
