The Importance of OpenStreetMap

OpenStreetMap is a tool to help people understand, well, there's a whole culture living here. Indigenous peoples from the USA and Canada are very wary about any sharing of this kind of cultural information publicly because they say if people find out where our cultural sites are, some people will go in and destroy them. It seems to be what certain members of the public want to do. There's a awareness and a difficult balance because these places are very important to them but they're very wary about how that information might be used if it's out in the public.
