The Difficulty of Applying Marx's Theory to Our Current Situation
A lot has been written about a so-called return to marx by contemporary marx's theorist. In the obama era even we saw that many people speculated that the recession and emergence of the occupy movement were responsible for a sort of theoretical turn to marx. But this historical fact does little to tell us why we ought to study marxism as opposed to later theorists it just tells us that a project is underway in which people are doing this. On the other hand the more orthodox understanding of a return to marX also fails to provide a good basis for studying marx today.
