The AI that was given the task of recruiting somebody on TaskRabbit to read a CAPTCHA. The person got suspicious and said, wait, are you a bot? And I said, no, no, I just have eyesight problems or something. So that was at least choosing in some sense to use deception to pursue a goal. We have extremely little progress being made on safety and alignment research.
