The Alignment Problem
In the 1920s, there was a Polish nobleman named Alfred Kraszewski who realized that as technology gets more powerful and more destructive, our ability to control it is not advancing nearly as quickly. And he projected that if this continues, if we have more, you know, great wars, that eventually we will be destroyed. I don't think we're in a good world. If we really want a long-term solution to existential risk, we have to solve these problems. We need better social tech. We needbetter coordination tech. Using technology to fix technology is just such a sad testament to our society of like how this is the only thing the West even considers as a solution
