Raheel Siddiqui's Death Has a Changing Effect on the Marines
Raheel Siddiqui's death had a ripple effect throughout the United States. A Democratic congresswoman from Detroit petitioned the Marines on their behalf for an unbiased inquiry into hazing. In 1956, a drill instructor ordered his platoon to march across a swamp. Two decades later, another recruit was beaten with training sticks and subsequently died.
