Do Dried Beans Cause Flatulence?
Dried beans, even after cooking, usually contain compounds known as oligo sacherides. Although some rectal gas is due to the ingestion of air, the majority of flatulence is produced from bacterial fermentation. Normal intestinal processes move these gas out of the body in the form of platus. So the primary cause of of beans leading to farts is the action of the bacteria in the gut fermenting these starches that the body can't break down on its own. But they say that people's concerns about excess farting from eating beans may be exaggerated compared to how much difference they actually make.
