The internet is full of calls for a return to something like the Hays Code. Critics could both cast dispersion on Madonna's callbacks to vamps of Hollywood's past in Body of Evidence, and also acknowledge that Madonna had been the missing link between Hitchcock's Blondes and Sharon Stone's modern update of Kim Novak in Basic Instinct.
