I think arguably not that much would have happened no matter what. Even if he just took over as speaker and they just went on their merry way, it would just be a lot of investigations into 100 Biden's laptop or things like that. They effectively took themselves out of the process. There is a chance that another candidate will come forward or that there's another option like a Steve Scalise. And so I think it does matter what these handful of people choose because they can also make trouble going down the road.
