In STEM spaces, specifically, meritocratic equal opportunity and colorblind ideologies are these systemic ideas that they're pervasive across the system. These hegemonic ideologies are embedded in the United States society and STEM in particular. They can mediate our understanding of systems of power in society because once people in power starts creating these narratives and discourses, they can control us without exercising fear or violence, right?
