Most Americans live in places where they will find it difficult to find others who are on the other side of the political aisle. In 1980, there were only 391 landslide counties and 12% of American counties were defined by one political party or the other. Now in 2020, we had 1,726 landslide counties. That's 57% of all the counties in the United States. And that allows the demonization of the other side to take place.
